Good afternoon Sir or Madam! Welcome to the internet tubes home of The Barack Obama / Desmond Dekker All Star Street Crew Union & Blues Revue!
The Barack Obama / Desmond Dekker All Star Street Crew Union & Blues Revue is a loose amalgamation of progressive-minded individuals who possess great potential to do good in the world... but typically squander such potential on booze, babes, fireworks and general rabble-rousery.
We have no official charter or code, but the following is a list of general concepts that we support:
- Progressive-minded intellectualism mixed with random acts of aggression
- The Pogues and The Clash
- Improved government-sponsored health care for the lower classes
- Bourbon
- Comprehensive immigration reform
- Mixed Martial Arts
- Foucault
- The high seas
- "The Economist"
- Drinking tea
- Unruly behaviour
- (Discounting) the future
- Malcolm Gladwell's "New Yorker" articles
- Mearsheimer and Realism
- Charles Wheelan and free markets
- The Chicago Way
- An industrious spirit of volunteerism
- Muddy Waters as a close second to Elmore James
- and Sonny Boy Williamson II (not Sonny Boy Williamson I)
- The Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Fire and the Phoenix Suns' offensive system
- Arturo's Tacos
- Potential Energy
At this point in history we have had three official gatherings:
- D.C. Anti-War protest (1/27/07)
- Chicago Barack Obama presidential announcement and rally (2/11/07)
- The Pogues at the Congress Theater (3/5/07 and 3/6/07 ... i.e. both nights)

This just in from Milwaukee Bureau Chief Peter, regarding his recent work with Peace Action Wisconsin:
We had five people at 4th and Highland from a little before 1:30 pm to a little after 2:30 pm today.
We received mostly positive response throughout the hour.
At 2:20 pm, Senator Kohl drove past us and into the private parking area. Ten minutes later, he walked out of the parking area and through the plaza near us towards the main Bradley Center entrance.
I approached him, said hello, wished the Bucks good luck today and aked him how he would vote this week on the Supplemental spending bill. He responded by saying, "I think everyone is going to vote for it, because it has so much in it.". I told him, "I know it's difficult, but on behalf of Peace Action Wisconsin, I ask you to take a stand and vote against spending any more money on the war in Iraq.". He said that would be hard to do. I said, "the bottom line is, we want the troops home as soon as possible.". he said, "I agree with you," shook my hand and walked in.
